We have seen some neat displays out there this year, and it looks like brands are slowly starting to realize the opportunity behind supporting this important holiday for Chinese-Canadians.
Despite being the year of the Monkey, we found this coupon execution by Royale’s Tiger Towels to be a unique link for a non-ethnic brand to tie into Chinese New Year merchandising. According to one University of Victoria website: “The entire house should be cleaned before New Year’s Day. On New Year’s Eve, all brooms, brushes, dusters, dust pans and other cleaning equipment are put away.”
With 1.5 million Chinese-Canadian consumers out there, Chinese New Year should get more attention from retailers and suppliers than it currently does.
