Whole Foods has been in the news quite a bit lately as they adjust their strategy to the rapidly changing economic conditions. From its roll out of its more accessible store format (365 by Whole Foods Market) to pressure on its CEO John Mackey for the company’s waning results, to its recent decision to cancel stores planned for Edmonton and Calgary – Whole Foods is definitely in the spotlight.
Whole Food’s most recent Canadian store opened in the tony Leaside neighbourhood of East Toronto on April 26th and according to Store Team Leader Cristina DosSantos, “Whole Foods Market Leaside will be a one-stop-shop for kitchen creators, featuring the best tasting natural and organic grocery staples as well as that hard-to-find ingredient,”
The store features some interesting features including a Taco Station, a Sandwich & Burger Station, Neapolitan Style Self-Service Pizza, a Coffee Bar, fresh Sushi, Salad & Hot Bars, a Bulk Department and a Full Scratch Bakery.
Of course the store is true to Whole Foods strategy of providing natural, organic and local foods as well as Whole Foods 365 Everyday Value private label products.
The site is also co-located with a Shoppers Drug Mart location making for interesting neighbours!
In case you haven’t had a chance to make it out to Leaside to check it out – we sent a few of our Field Agents to the store to take some photos so you can see what this store is all about. We hope you enjoy this Virtual Store Tour!
